The 4k Blu-ray disc release of Superman (often referred to as Superman: The Movie) celebrates the 40th anniversary of its premiere in theaters in 1978. Directed by Richard Donner, Superman: The Movie was nominated for 3 Oscars including Best Sound, Best Film Editing and Best Music, Original Score (John Williams). The movie, officially titled Superman, also starred Gene Hackman, Margo Kidder and Marlon Brando.
Originally shot in 35 mm with a Panavision system, the Ultra HD Blu-ray edition presents Superman: The Movie in 2160p resolution at 2:40.1 aspect ratio with HDR provided via Dolby Vision spec. A newly remastered soundtrack is provided in Dolby Atmos, backed by Dolby TrueHD 7.1.
The Blu-ray Disc, included in the combo edition from Warner Bros., displays the movie in 1080p with the soundtrack in DTS-HD Master Audio. Subtitles are provided in English SDH, French and Spanish.
