Activision has officially announced Call of Duty: Ghosts, powered by the next generation engine from Infinity Ward, will release for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, as well as next generation platforms (PlayStation 4,”Xbox 720“) on November 5, 2013. However, the press release from Activision made no mention of a Wii edition. And, no details were revealed about what next the generation versions of the game would offer beyond current console versions.

If you missed it, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed III hits shelves today (and download servers) in several different editions. The third major release in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed III is, of course, available for PS3, Xbox 360, PC and the new Nintendo WiiU. Choosing the edition may be the hardest decision. For PS3 and Xbox 360 the game is available in a Standard Edition ($59), Limited Edition ($119), and Encyclopedia Edition ($99). For PC Download (Windows Vista/7/XP), Ubisoft will soon offer a Deluxe Edition ($64.99) on November 20, 2012. Assassin’s Creed III is available at GameStop, Amazon, and most big retailers.

Blizzard Entertainment says the digital version of the long awaited hack and slash sequel is available for pre-order right now through Battle.net for $59.99. Electronic Arts has announced the first DLC for 38 Studios’ Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. The downloadable content is titled The Legend of Dead Kel and will hit servers on March 20, 2012. The Legend of Dead Kel takes players to a new continent called Gallows End, where they’ll find new enemies, 18 new weapons, a new dungeon type called Dverga Fastings, and three new Twists of Fate. When launched, the new DLC will be available on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, Origin and Steam. No word yet what the download will cost. Open the press release link below for more info.

Multiple online pubs are reporting on a rumor that Star Wars: Battlefront III will release this year. PlayStationLifeStyle.net cites several job postings and tweets from insiders which point to a 2012 release of a “3rd person Action/Adventure sequel in a high-profile science fiction franchise.” Talk about digging through clues, the sources also found a LinkedIn post from a developer who claims to have been working for three years on a “AAA third person shooter using Unreal Engine and Kynapse AI middleware,” and another post that refers to an “Unannounced third person sword fighting game.” If it’s not Star Wars what could it be? It’s been almost seven years since the release of Star Wars: Battlefront II for PlayStation 2, PSP, Xbox, and Windows. An upgraded HD version of the game would certainly get a warm welcome from Star Wars game fanatics.
Gamefly has launched their public beta for a new PC gaming client. If you’re a subscriber, you can download titles from Gamefly’s “Unlimited PC” library and play unlimited times at no charge. The OpenNI framework doesn’t support voice so the guy uses VAC (Voice Activated Commands) software to convert spoken words to keystrokes via a RazorFish bluetooth headset.

Electronic Arts has committed the Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand digital expansion pack to release on December 6 for PlayStation 3, and December 13 for Xbox and PC users. If you remember, the PlayStation 3 “Limited Edition” of Battlefield 3 promised a free copy of the ‘Karkand’ pack one week before Xbox and PC users are able to get it.
