Amazon has announced their Amazon Studios production company has given the greenlight to a new original series pilot titled Sara Solves It. Sara Solves It is created and produced by Carol Greenwald (Curious George) and Angela C. Santomero (Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood). Each show will contain an interactive math-based puzzle that viewers will need to solve. Sara Solves It is co-developed by WGBH and Out of the Blue Enterprises.
Amazon LOVEFiLM subscribers abroad will soon have access to American TV series such as The Office, 30 Rock, and Heroes. Subscribers will even be able to watch 80’s hits such as Knight Rider starring David Hasselhoff in his breakout role as as crimestopper Michael Knight. LOVEFiLM has recently made deals with ABC, BBC, and ITV to add more titles to their instant streaming library. Devices that support LOVEFiLM streaming include select Blu-ray players and TVs, the Kindle Fire HD, Apple iPad, PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, iOS and Android devices, and other media players.
Xbox unveiled a handful of new apps today to push more entertainment content to console owners, once again attempting to prove the Xbox 360 is the only device you need to go along with your display. Among the app rollouts are Blip.TV, IGN, LOVEFiLM, Rhapsody, RTL XL and TOU.TV. Rhapsody (launching in the US), provides millions of songs with which you can create playlists until your heart’s content. Blip.TV (also launching in the US), offers original web series such as dramas, comedies, and other genres. The other apps listed below (via Major Nelson’s blog), are launching outside the US.
Here’s some good news for Nintendo Wii owners in the UK, as Amazon announced its LOVEFiLM service is now available for the console, with an app coming soon for the new Wii U. Amazon didn’t give a specific date as to the launch for the U, however the company did reveal several blockbuster films queuing up this month including Sherlock Holmes, Inception, and The Twilight Saga : Breaking Dawn – Part 1. LOVEFiLM subscriptions in the UK start at £4.99 a month for unlimited streaming, with many titles available in HD. The service is also available for Kindle Fire HD (launched last October), Apple iPad, PlayStation3, Xbox 360, as well as supporting HDTVs and Blu-ray Disc players.

Amazon’s LOVEFiLM movie service has landed a deal with Twentieth Century Fox to stream movies and TV shows. The Fox titles will include catalog, recent and future titles, as well as “exclusive” access to second pay window titles starting in March, 2013.
Amazon’s overseas company LOVEFiLM is now streaming in high-definition (HD) in both the UK and Germany, the company announced this morning. The service is similar to Netflix and Amazon’s Instant Video, offering unlimited streaming of movies and TV shows on demand to supporting devices.
Amazon has entered into an agreement with Viacom to provide more streaming content for their Prime Instant Video service. For subscribers to Amazon Prime, that means content from MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, TV Land, and VH1 will be free to watch instantly on Kindle Fire tablets, PCs and other supported devices. A few titles in the deal include Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Sarah Silverman Program, and Jersey Shore. The 2,000 additions from Viacom bring Amazon’s library to over 15,000.

Amazon’s LOVEFILM in the UK has signed a multi-year contract with Sony Pictures Television which gives the company streaming distribution rights to new and upcoming titles. Starting in June, 2012 movies such as “The Social Network” and TV shows such as “Spectacular Spider-Man” will be available to stream to PCs, game consoles, iPads, and other internet-connected devices. Among other new films Sony Pictures’ “Arthur Christmas” will fall into the pay window — giving LOVEFILM subscribers access to stream the recently released movie.

The company, branded “LOVEFiLM,” is in the same business as Netflix but on top of movies by mail and internet they also offer Video Game rentals, and DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs and Books for sale.
