Battle: Los Angeles
What are the top selling Blu-ray Discs right now? Coming in at number 1 for the week ending June 26, 2011 is Universal’s The Adjustment Bureau starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt. At number 2 in Blu-ray sales is Warner Bros’ Unknown, followed by Sony Pictures’ Battle: Los Angeles. According to Home Media Research, Blu-ray sales hit $35 million for the week ending June 18, which is up 19.5% from the same week a year ago. Check out the Top 10 below.
Walmart has started selling digital movie cards for its VUDU movie service. The first title available in the format is Battle: Los Angeles, which also hits stores today on Blu-ray and DVD. How do they work? The movie cards simply provide a code to stream movies via a VUDU box or app on a supporting device (which Walmart says now exceed 300). Battle: Los Angeles is available for $14.96 in standard-definition only, and can be found in Walmart’s entertainment section. Currently, it appears the cards are only available in-store and not the company’s website. The movies are to keep, by the way, so the card itself will hold some value and maybe considered a collectible item for certain movies. No word on whether or not Walmart will offer the digital cards for VUDU’s higher quality HD and HDX formats.
