Twitter, Comcast and NBC Universal announced a deal today that should have the Twittersphere trending it with hashtags #ablazin’. In a strategic partnership between the newly public company, the recently merged media conglomerate, and the old school content producer, Twitter users will be able to see expanded tweets about NBCUniversal shows such as The Voice and Sunday Night Football and be able to either record or watch those shows directly from the tweet through either an enabled set-top box, HDTV or mobile device. Comcast says the feature, called “See It“, will be rolled out in November of this year to Comcast Xfinity cable subscribers.

Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 sold an estimated 3.85 million combined Blu-ray and DVD units over weekend, following the film’s home media release on March 2. According to Lionsgate, Blu-ray Disc copies of ‘Breaking Dawn Part 2’ made up for about 27% of the units sold over the opening weekend, reflecting an increase from Blu-ray sales of ‘Breaking Dawn Part 1’ last year at 22%. Over 3,000 stores nationwide held release parties as the clock hit midnight last Friday including Target, Walmart, and Best Buy.
In a bit of industry news, Starz announced a new agreement with Sony Pictures today that extends their current exclusive first-run premium pay TV agreement through 2021 — a five year extension from the previous deal that had included movies released through 2016. The agreement includes titles from Sony Pictures-owned Columbia Pictures, Sony Pictures Classics, TriStar, and Screen Gems. This year, you’ll be able to see films such as The Amazing Spider-Man, Zero Dark Thirty, and Men In Black 3 exclusively on Starz.
