You may have already picked up Assassin’s Creed III at a midnight release party last night, unless you were in an area where parties were cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy. If you missed it, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed III hits shelves today (and download servers) in several different editions. The third major release in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed III is, of course, available for PS3, Xbox 360, PC and the new Nintendo WiiU. Choosing the edition may be the hardest decision. For PS3 and Xbox 360 the game is available in a Standard Edition ($59), Limited Edition ($119), and Encyclopedia Edition ($99). For PC Download (Windows Vista/7/XP), Ubisoft will soon offer a Deluxe Edition ($64.99) on November 20, 2012. Assassin’s Creed III is available at GameStop, Amazon, and most big retailers.
Bright House Networks has added truTV HD just in time for the NCAA tournament’s first two games tonight at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Eastern Time. March Madness kicks off first with UNC Asheville vs. Arkansas Little Rock followed by UAB vs. Clemson.
Time Warner Cable (TWC) has added DreamWorks’ “Megamind” to their 3D video-on-demand library. The title is available for Digital customers who have a 3D TV with glasses and compatible TWC HD or HD/DVR set-top box connected via HDMI. In the animated film a villainous alien named Megamind confronts his nemesis super-hero Metro Man. Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill and Tina Fey provide the voiceover talent. The film was created by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Paramount Pictures.
AT&T and Starz Entertainment made an agreement that will soon give U-verse TV premium subscribers online access to Starz Online and Encore Online. In addition, the agreement includes added distribution rights to MoviePlex On Demand, MoviePlex HD On Demand and MoviePlex Online.
AT&T’s U-verse TV service has launched MLB Network to its channel lineup. The network will broadcast over 100 live regular season games and over 80 Spring Training games, as well as original programming, special events, and coverage of the MLB First-Year Player Draft. The 24-hour channel dedicated to baseball programming can be found on channel 634 (SD) and channel 1634 (HD).
Cox Communications has stepped up March Madness coverage for customers in Fairfax County and Fredericksburg by offering high-definition broadcasts of all 67 games of the tournament. The games will be available on CBS (CH 709), TBS (CH 722 in Fairfax County and CH 709 in Fredericksburg), TNT(CH 714) and truTV (CH 895).
Time Warner Cable has added entire seasons of NBC shows to its Primetime On Demand lineup. Hit series like Parks & Recreation (Season 3) and Parenthood (Season 2) are now available and free to watch for TMC Digital customers. The newly added NBC content can be found by viewing the NBC category under the Primetime On Demand channel.
Time Warner Cable NYC added three more HD channels to their lineup this week, including Oxygen HD, Sundance HD and Wedding Central HD. The added channels bring the hi-def count to 165 in TWC’s New York City market, which includes Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island and western Brooklyn as well as several counties in New Jersey.

Universal Studios has announced it will release “The Bionic Woman Season Two” on DVD, but not Blu-ray! The 24-episode 5-disc DVD box set will hit shelves May 17, 2011, featuring commentaries, featurettes, crossover episodes with “The Six Million Dollar Man,” gag reel and photo gallery. The DVDs are formatted in full frame, 1.33:1 aspect ratio, with Dolby Digital 2.0.
Best Buy announced a sale on big screen HDTVs including a Sony Bravia 55″ LED for $1499 (a savings of $800) and their branded Insignia 55″ LED with Blu-ray player for $999 (a savings of $600). The promotion is aimed at football fans gearing up for the final NFL event on Sunday, Feb. 6 and those looking to upgrade their home theater systems.
Time Warner Cable has added Sundance Films titles to their On Demand library both in standard and high definition. And, TWC offers many of the titles for free such as “Grizzly Man,” Women Without Men.” and “Dog Eat Dog.” In addition, The Sundance Film Festival category will include sneak peaks of 5 films premiering at the 2011 festival including “Mad Bastards,” “Uncle Kent,” “Septien,” “These Amazing Shadows” and “Kaboom.”
Crytek GmbH has announced a Jan. 25 launch of the Crysis 2 Multiplayer Demo exclusive for Xbox 360 and Xbox Live Gold Members. Crysis 2 takes players to a war-torn Manhattan where Nanosuits give players increased power, speed and invisibility.
Crysis 2 offers two game modes: “Team Instant Action” and “Crash Site.” In the “Team Instant Action” mode players simply try to destroy opponents to earn ranking. In “Crash Site,” players gain points by controlling alien drop pods.
This Sunday is going to be wild day for football fans, with the AFC and NFC Conference Championships starting at 3:00 pm Eastern. The games are split between FOX (who will broadcast the NFC game) and CBS (who will later host the AFC game at 6:30 pm Eastern.)

The sequel to the LittleBigPlanet is now available for PlayStation 3. LittleBigPlanet 2 has a new story with 40 levels, improved graphics and new tools for Sackboy. Media Molecule has also improved the control and customization of the game allowing players to create new games and assign controller buttons for different genres. For example, create a multiplayer racing game where you can compete against your friends.
Check out the new trailer for Mass Effect 2 on PS3. VISO Games uploaded the video to their channel on YouTube, which is viewable in 360p, 480, and 720p HD resolution. Mass Effect 2 is the sequel to Mass Effect and already released early last year for PC and Windows. In the trailer, IGN is quoted as saying the game is “even better on Sony’s console.” Mass Effect 2 was developed by Bioware and is published by Electronic Arts.
