The official home media release date has yet to be has been announced as August 15th, and Alien: Covenant can be pre-ordered in several different editions including retailer exclusives on Blu-ray and 4k Blu-ray. Still in theaters as we write this, Alien: Covenant will be available in a standard 2-disc Blu-ray edition ($19.96) and Ultra HD Blu-ray edition ($24.96) from 20th Century Fox.
Best Buy is taking pre-orders for an exclusive Steelbook edition, priced at $21.99 (Blu-ray) and $26.99 (Ultra HD Blu-ray). Target has an exclusive edition that comes with a special Digibook and is selling for $19.99 (Blu-ray). And, Walmart is taking pre-orders on exclusive Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray editions, each of which come with an Alien-branded t-shirt (XL size) and priced at $19.96 and $24.96, respectively.
The combo editions, regardless of whether or not exclusive retailer versions, will come with a redemption code for a Digital HD copy. We’re not sure if the Ultra HD Blu-ray editions will validate UHD copies on Vudu or other services.
The Ultra HD Blu-ray edition of Alien: Covenant features 2160p video with 4-times the resolution of 1080p. And, the 4k Blu-ray includes HDR (labeled as Ultra HD Premium) for expanded color bit depth.
