There are quite a few Blu-ray and 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray releases this week. To help you sort through them, here are our top picks hitting stores on June 13, followed by a list of all new releases.
John Wick: Chapter 2 is now available on Blu-ray and 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray, as well as a special Steelbook edition from Best Buy. The Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray combos from Summit/Lionsgate also include quite a few bonus features as well as Digital HD copies redeemable with iTunes or UltraViolet. What would the week be without a LEGO movie release? Warner Bros. and DC Comics have partnered to bring The Lego Batman Movie to the big screen, and now the animated feature film can be watched at home on Blu-ray. The Blu-ray combo includes four new animated shorts, four deleted scenes, six featurettes, and a DVD and Digital HD copy via UltraViolet.
For television series on Blu-ray this week Grimm: Season Six and The Vampire Diaries: The Complete Eighth/Final Season are both available in combo editions that include Digital HD copies. Grimm: The Complete Collection has also been released to a 28-disc collection from Universal, selling for about $140 (List: $225). And, don’t forget South Park: The Complete Twentieth Season, the third season of Power, and Dark Matter: Season Two now all on Blu-ray.
Other notable Blu-ray releases include the movies American Epic from PBS, the fantasy film Dragonheart: Battle for the Heartfire with Patrick Stewart as the voice of Drago, and Criterion Collection’s digitally remastered edition of They Live By Night (1948)
