LucasFilm has released the second official trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The 2-minute, 20-second trailer includes more footage of Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale) as Galen Erso, as well as his daughter Jyn Erso (played by Felicity Jones) as a child. In the trailer (spoiler alert) it’s revealed Galen Erso is “critical to the development of a super weapon,” — and therein lies the conflict between father and daughter.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will release to theaters in the US, Canada, Japan, and several European countries on December 16th, 2016. The film, also playing in 3D at IMAX 3D and RealD 3D cinemas, will release one year between last December’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the not-yet-named Star Wars: Episode VIII scheduled for December, 2017.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Ben Mendelsohn, Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Riz Ahmed, Forest Whitaker, and James Earl Jones.
