Amazon’s Fire TV is a tiny 4.5” x 4.5” device that streams movies, TV shows, sports and other programming from popular apps such as Netflix, Showtime Anytime, Hulu Plus, WatchESPN, MLB.TV, and Amazon Prime Instant Video. You can also plays games with Fire TV such as Minecraft-Pocket Edition and Asphalt 8 using the included remote control or optional Amazon Game Controller. The Fire TV features a quad-core processor, 2GB memory, and Adreno 320 graphics engine. For video and audio, the player supports up to 1080p resolution and 7.1 channel Dolby Digital Plus surround sound.
Amazon also sells the smaller, and more inconspicuous, Fire TV Stick. The device plugs into the back of your TV and streams media from the internet such as Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, and Hulu Plus. The Fire TV Stick packs a dual-core processor, 1 GB RAM memory, and 8 GB storage (twice the amount of RAM and storage as Chromecast), and dual-band/dual-antenna (MIMO) Wi-Fi. The device sells for $39.
