Netflix ranks the Internet service providers

Ever wonder if your uncle in ______ (insert city here) gets better Netflix service than you? The Los Gatos, CA company is now regularly shining the spotlight on which Internet service providers are providing the best service for their 30 million members. November’s rankings list all major ISPs based on their actual performance across all Netflix streams. Google Fiber comes out on top as the fastest, according to actual user experience. Cable performed better than DSL, with AT&T U-verse getting trounced by Verizon Fios (pure fiber). Netflix says the average performance is “well below the peak performance due to a variety of factors including home Wi-Fi, a variety of devices, and a variety of encodes.”
