Blockbuster renews Warner deal, On Demand added to Samsung products

Blockbuster has renewed a previous agreement with Warner Bros. to offer new titles immediately for rental by mail or in-store. Movies include today’s release of The Blind Side and next Tuesday’s (Mar. 30) release of Sherlock Holmes. The renewal continues a 25-year relationship between the two companies. The existing digital agreement will stay in-tact.

On the application side, Samsung has added Blockbuster On Demand to select 2010 Blu-ray Players, HDTVs, and Blu-ray Home Theater Systems. The service is powered by Sonic’s Roxio CinemaNow and is available on Samsung’s Internet@TV enabled products. Firmware upgrades are required to add the widgets and upgrade software.

As well as adding Blockbuster On Demand, Samsung has also added access to content from Amazon Video on Demand.
